Chai, Kappi and Jugaad
International Conference of Narrative Practices, Mental Health and Community Well-Being
January 16 to 19, 2025
Chai, Kappi and Jugaad is a celebration of the everydayness of our lives. The dismissed and delegitimised mundane ‘little’ things that communities and people do very often in their everyday lives are precious. They are entry points into territories of rich knowledges passed on for many generations as ways to celebrate life.
Chai, Kappi and Jugaad will be a space of sharing, documenting and celebrating these ‘little’ things. Things as little as making chai for oneself in the quiet of your kitchen or sharing a cutting with a friend over tears, laughter or silences.
We welcome you to this celebration of our everyday stories of doing love, relentless hoping and practising accountability.
At the International Conference of Narrative Practices, Mental Health and Community Well Being – 2025 we bring together voices from diverse contexts across India and different parts of the globe to share everyday stories of resistance through little – big ways of using the narrative ideas and practices in responding to mental health and community well-being.
Key note addresses
Each Keynote address highlights stories of resistance and responses to mental health and community well being. They bring forward the relentless hope that narrative ideas make possible. The key note addresses are an opportunity to bear witness and be in solidarity with the story while also pushing the listeners imagination of what might be possible.
Pre-conference workshops
Pre conference workshops will be offered on the 16th of January. These workshops will offer participants an opportunity to both experience and reflect on key narrative practices and their application in innovative ways.
Oral Presentations
The conference invites speakers to share stories with the intention of generating possibility for those who witness them and providing an audience for creative responses to mental health and community well being using narrative ideas and practices.
Conference mini workshops
The mini workshops are one and a half hour long small group explorations with a speaker. They offer an opportunity to experience and reflect on a particular narrative practice/ context during the main conference.
